This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with various governmental income tax laws and regulations.
Specifically, this position is responsible for corporate federal and state income tax return preparation and reporting, the correct presentation of the income tax position in the financial statements, and the communication of those positions to management, external financial auditors, and federal and state departments of revenue.
The incumbent is also responsible for development of forecasts and planning specific to income tax positions.
Qualifications :
To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent must have thorough knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations as they relate to corporate and cooperative separate and consolidated income tax reporting, and thorough knowledge of accounting principles and theory at a level acquired through the completion of a four-year degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business related discipline, plus eight years of experience in corporate tax.
Three years of experience associated with IRS or state departments of revenue audits is preferred.
Advanced specialized knowledge of and extensive experience with the Internal Revenue Code and Regulations, and State Tax regulations, as well as a solid understanding of and experience with Federal and State Tax Audit process and procedure, is required.
The incumbent must have experience in completing all areas of a corporate tax return.
Strong presentation skills and the ability to work with minimal direction are required.
A Certified Public Accountant certificate is also required.
The position requires leadership skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, strong interpersonal skills, proficiency in personal computer operation, experience with computer information systems, and a good working knowledge of relational database concepts.
The ability to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills is required.
Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:
This position requires frequent sitting and standing/walking; and occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, use of keyboard/computer, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds.
It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination.
This position requires good hearing and vision, and the ability to speak.
It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines.
