Job Description – Blowout Preventer (BOP) Technician
The BOP Technician job requirements will involve hands-on technical and operating support, installation, repair and maintenance of a blowout preventer (BOP).
This position must have a can-do attitude towards job duties, a willingness to work long hours in inclement weather and varying conditions, ability to drive long distances and follow Axis Energy Services safety and procedural guidelines and our customer’s safety guidelines and requirements.
Additionally, and with appropriate training, this job may assist with some other well service and pressure control equipment functions to ensure continuous production consistent with established standards.
Job Functions/Duties:
Servicing all blow out preventers.
Performing and documenting all pressure tests for these components after service.
Obtaining and maintaining an inventory of expendable materials and parts for these items.
Organizing and maintaining the facility including the testing station and storeroom.
Aiding management in developing a preventive maintenance system for these components.
Assisting field personnel with job related problems associated with these components.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education.
Must have valid state issued driver license with acceptable motor vehicle records (MVR).
At least one year (1) year experience working with BOPs and/or work that would include servicing BOPs or expendable materials inventory.
Demonstrated ability to take apart and put together equipment per detailed specifications.
Must be able to safely operate a forklift.
Demonstrated work experience with hydraulic systems.
Must be able to travel as job requires.
Work may be performed in all weather conditions.
Mobility, including entering confined spaces, enter areas by the use of ladders or other access devices up to 15 ft.
; ability to bend, stoop, twist, stand, squat, crawl and walk.
Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and written in English.
Basic math skills and problem solving and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with customers, visitors, vendors and other employees.
Clearance of company pre-employment drug/alcohol and job-relevant screens.
