Job purpose
The Wash Plant Operator is responsible for operating the wash plant and screen in order to produce materials used in the construction of roads.
This position is responsible for screening operations, maintenance, and light repairs to the wash plant.
This position will begin at the start of the 2024 construction season with an anticipated start from mid-April to early May.
Duties and responsibilities
Safe operation of the Wash Plant/Screen with up-to-date computerized equipment controls
Oversee plant maintenance and operation
Light welding and use of a cutting torch to repair and maintain equipment
Safe operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical conveyor belts
Monitor material quality and inspected material
Work closely with the Quality Control Department
Calibrate plant for maximum efficiency
Monitor inventory levels for all of the materials
Ensure that the equipment & plant functions as designed at all times
Assist with troubleshooting equipment malfunctions in order to minimize downtime as well as striving to improve equipment/plant operating efficiency to maximize production, save time, save fuel, and minimize labor
Follow and be knowledgeable about all safety and MSHA regulations at all times
Safe operation of other pieces of equipment (Off-road truck, front-end loader, dozer, excavator, skid steer)
All other duties as assigned, delegated, or necessary for operations
Qualifications
Must be mechanically inclined
One year of screening, crushing, and/or plant experience (willing to train the right candidate)
Experience working with electrical conveyor belts
Experience with welding and cutting torch
Valid Driver’s License required
Ability to pass a pre-employment urine drug test and comply with drug and alcohol policies during employment
Working conditions
Indoor/Outdoor environment subject to changing conditions and temperatures
Occasional exposures to fumes, dust, odors, heights, and loud noises
Physical requirements
Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner
Clarity of vision at varying distances to perform various work assignments
Standing for extended periods of time
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment
Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally
Occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching
Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 50 pounds
