Seasonal Construction Assistant

General Summary
Assists in the construction, installation, and modification of OSP facilities, network facilities and equipment located at the customer premise.
Job requires occasional out of town work with overnight stays.
Essential Job Functions
Assists in installation and maintenance of ONT housings, pedestals, fiber cable, handholes and grounding solutions.
Assists in installation of new services and equipment for subscribers by installing drop cable and network interface devices.
Works with construction equipment, hand tools, motorized tools, trucks and vehicles.
Assists in installation, service, and removal of network facilities and equipment.
Assists in installation and maintenance of phone systems and associated equipment, security systems, surveillance systems including cabling.
Installs and maintains other customer premise equipment.
Assists in testing and splicing fiber drops and fiber cable networks.
Completes all necessary installation and repair related forms and reports.
Take personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work and achieve results with good fiscal policy.
Adapt to the evolving and changing business needs, conditions, and work responsibilities of WRT and the industry.

Performs all other related duties as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of fiber facility construction process and procedure.
Knowledge of telecommunications plant operations and maintenance.
Knowledge of company products and services.
Knowledge of company policies and procedures.
Skill in working with IVUE and Microsoft office software.
Skill in using mechanical and electric power tools.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as maps, staking sheets, and operating and maintenance manuals.
Ability to lift a minimum of 60 lbs.
Ability to communicate with customers, co-workers and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments.
Ability to pay close attention to detail.
Ability to effectively function as a team player.
Ability to be self-motivated, enthusiastic and passionate about WRT’s sales culture.
Ability to think progressively and innovatively while quickly grasping and synthesizing new ideas.
Ability to maintain positive attitude.
Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by WRT’s insurance carrier.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
Reporting Requirements
Reports to WRT Headquarters Building in Hazen, ND.
