Employment Type: Full time City: Dickinson State: North Dakota Summary The Commercial HVAC Crew Leader is responsible for the installation of large or small mechanical projects, including indoor and outdoor equipment, duct, gas piping, condensate piping, and all associated equipment and material.
This position responds to additional work authorizations and change orders in response to requests from contractors, or owners.
The Commercial HVAC Crew Leader is a working position and is responsible for the execution of the project.
The position collaborates with the Commercial HVAC Project Manager to order materials, schedule resources, schedule subcontractors, manage cash flow and coordinate with owners and contractors.
The Commercial HVAC Crew Leader will report project status to the project manager.
The crew leader may work on projects as an installer under the project direction of another crew leader.
Thorough experience with the common practices, tools, and terminology of the mechanical trade; detailed knowledge of the use and characteristics of common mechanical equipment; capable of recognizing the hazards and safety precautions associated with the mechanical trade; skill in the use of tools and equipment; ability to work from sketches, drawings, plans, or specifications; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates; ability to communicate clearly and provide direction for associates are required to fulfill the duties of this position.
Responsibilities Collaborate with and follow direction from the Project Manager.
Provide expert knowledge to the project team.

Onsite planning and coordination of work.
Performs work.
Look-ahead and plan material orders and deliveries.
Schedule subcontractors and rental equipment.
Schedule inspections.
On-site point of contact for the general contractor or owner.
Provide onsite direction to the work crew.
Review plans to anticipate and avoid space conflicts, schedule conflicts, coordination errors, and other issues.
Serves as a technical resource for the work crew and others.
Make decisions to move the project forward in the most cost-effective manner, looking out for the customer and the Company’s best interest.
Collaborates with the project manager.
Understand and enforce all local and national codes and standards of workmanship.
Study and understand project scope, project plans and detail drawings, project specifications, addendums, submittals, and OEM documentation.
May run multiple projects at once.
Provide leadership to Journeymen and apprentice installers.
Communicate project status and other relevant information to stakeholders.
Collaborate with Accounting, Warehouse, Fabrication, and Operations staff as needed.
Continuously improve the level of knowledge within the mechanical trade, including new materials, tooling, methods, and know-how.
Manage onsite work-in-process materials, including material returns.
Perform work as required including but not limited to the installation of indoor and outdoor equipment, duct, gas piping, condensate piping, and all associated equipment and materials.
Manage project/process documentation, including submittals, red lines, as-builts, A.

Ensures project quality.
Provide input into employee performance evaluations.
Provide input into Ellingsons Apprenticeship Program assessments and evaluations.
Follow and enforce Company policies, procedures, and methods.
Is responsible for job site safety and toolbox talks.
Preferred Qualifications Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Blueprint reading.
Understanding of applicable building codes and trade standards.
Understanding of commercial construction.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects.
Competent with computers, software, and mobile devices.
Demonstrated ability to lead a team.
Ability to develop and execute project plans to deliver results.
Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles including cash flow management.
Demonstrated leadership ability.
Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships.
Experience with Servant Leadership.
Licensed tradesman.
Three years experience in running >$500,000 projects.
Ability to lead crew sizes of eight or more.
Ability to manage multi-floor commercial mechanical projects over a period of months.
Possess a broad knowledge of the mechanical trade methods, materials, tooling, equipment, and apparatus.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects.
Must be a licensed tradesperson.
Must know local and national codes and standards of workmanship.
Five years of experience managing jobs and crews.
