Summary: This is a full-time position that is responsible for performing a wide variety of duties at truck terminals, truck yards, and field locations which provide backup and support for terminal staff, shop personnel, drivers, and operators.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.
Responsibilities: Assisting drivers and operators of gin trucks, cranes, flatbeds, haul trucks, and other hoisting machines used to lift and move machinery, equipment, or materials.
Traveling to and working at various outlying locations as necessary for drilling rig moves, customer work orders, and miscellaneous company assignments.
Assisting drivers in loading and unloading freight, either manually or by operating forklift.
Climbing and working on cranes and other lifting mechanisms, and objects or structures being lifted or moved; may be required to work in a manbucket.
Signaling driver or operator, vocally or with hand signals, to guide in connecting, lifting, and moving loads when view of driver or operator is obstructed.
Servicing small company vehicles, primarily pickups, by changing oil, greasing, changing fuel tanks, seats, etc.
; notifying supervisor if vehicles require more than general maintenance.
Operating various shop equipment and power tools, including grinders, cutting torches, air guns, and drill presses.
Running for miscellaneous parts, supplies, and equipment as needed and as authorized; turns in charge slips, invoices, or receipts for all items.
Operating various radio and telephone systems from the terminal and vehicles.
Cleaning shop (building and/or equipment) and yard as required; performing general maintenance duties; preparing scrap iron in yard for disposal.
Following company safety policies and procedures for all work assignments, indoors and outdoors; reporting compliance problems to supervisor.
Reading and maintaining knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for volatile compounds including fuels, lubricants, and solvents; knowing proper handling and disposal procedures for substances requiring specialized handling and disposal.
Qualifications: Prior experience in the trucking industry is preferred.
Possession of a valid driver’s license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
Ability to meet Department of Transportation (DOT) physical requirements.
English language fluency, verbal and written.
Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol test.
