KLJ is actively seeking a Project Manager to join our Transportation Team in our Bismarck, ND office.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in planning, design, modeling, and planning production on large-scale, complex surface transportation projects.
You will provide engineering design and oversight in the successful delivery of transportation projects throughout North Dakota as well as leading and mentoring project teams in design and plan preparation for the Department of Transportation (NDDOT), municipalities, and counties.
Performance Expectations: Manage transportation projects with large-scale budgets and scopes of work Develop and maintain client, stakeholder, and teaming partner relationships Generate business opportunities with existing and prospective clients in communities throughout North Dakota Lead plan production for rural and urban roadway projects Oversee fiscal management of a project scope, budget, schedule, profitability, and accounts receivable within contracted terms Effectively adhere to safety and quality control protocols, manage change orders, and minimize errors and omissions Collaborate with sales team in lead identification, win strategies, proposal development, interviews, fee development, and negotiations Serve as a lead designer, project manager, and mentor to staff Participate in local professional organizations, conferences, and white papers for market awareness Professional Requirements: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field Professional Engineer in the State of North Dakota, or ability to obtain within 6 months 10+ years of experience on transportation projects, preferably in North Dakota Proven client management experience and relationships with DOTs, cities, and counties Knowledge of NDDOT design, construction, and administration procedures Proven experience in managing complex, multi-disciplinary surface transportation projects Have a broad understanding of roadway design, including roadway elements, hydrology and hydraulics, as well as structures and traffic-related items Ability to track and manage project scopes, budgets, and schedules Monitor the quality of design and technical service delivery on transportation projects Exceptional leadership, communication, and team-building skills Highly motivated, energetic, and positive thinker Able to travel across North Dakota for client meetings Proficiency with MS Office Suite What We Offer Flexibility with hybrid work options including working in a KLJ office or remote location An employee-owned firm where your voice matters, and we share in the success of the company A culture of safety, equity, diversity, and inclusion for a safe and respectful workplace Technical and professional development programs and diverse career opportunities Competitive pay, benefits, and well-being programs to support you and your family Opportunity to collaborate across offices and markets for career growth An Equal Opportunity Employer, allowing for individual growth and development regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or genetic information Medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D and disability, paid time off, leaves of absence, wellness 401K, employee stock ownership, service awards, and performance bonus, depending on employment status Who We Are A full-service engineering consulting firm specializing in infrastructure planning, design, permitting, and construction for the transportation, aviation, oil & gas, telecommunications, and power markets 80+ years of exceptional client experience Ranked #160 In Engineering News-Records (ENR) 2020 “Top 500 Design Firms” Offer a full breadth of engineering services, including planning, design, grant writing, public engagement, traffic, survey, right-of-way, GIS, environmental, cultural resources, civil, structural, electrical, and construction engineering Checkout our website at www.
