Asphalt Screed Operator
The asphalt paving screed operator will be an essential crew member to the application of asphalt on highways, airports, private roadways, parking lots and driveways operating the screed on the asphalt paver.
The operator will work with other crew members to place asphalt according to plans and specifications as well as perform tasks of other positions as instructed by foreman/superintendent.
Operator must follow all Strata Corporation company policies and procedures for safe working procedures.
Must be flexible with last minute schedule changes, location changes, overtime work, weekend work, all work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions, work around other heavy equipment and moving machinery, dust and periodic high levels of noise and able to stay out of town.
Must be able to get to each job location by own transportation.
Must be able to follow Traffic Control instructions and practice safety standards per Strata Safety Policy requirements.
Must adhere to PPE (personal protective equipment) and maintain individual PPE in a functional condition as supplied by company.
The paver screed operator makes normal adjustments for obtaining proper depth, grade and finished cross section of asphalt material using screed screws and screed extensions and run automatic grade control system on paver as well.
Responsibilities:
Inspect, clean, maintain and repair equipment
Set up and tear down equipment as well as job site cleanup
Operate other various equipment (i.
e.
roller, broom, tamper, skid steer or tractor) as well as place on drive on trailers
Shovel asphalt as part of daily job function
Make normal adjustments to paver screed as needed for smooth finished product
Traffic control knowledge and maintenance
Review equipment operations manuals
Participate in safety meetings and tool-box meetings
Navigate to and from work sites
Typical work week is sunrise to sunset and 6 days a week in various locations across ND
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to consistently lift up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to work in field environment with exposure, inclement weather, extreme heat, dust, & noise
Must be able to climb safely on and off equipment
Must wear required personal protective equipment
Experience/Qualification/Education:
Previous asphalt screed operation preferred.
High school diploma or GED
Must have general knowledge and understanding and proven abilities for construction work
Must be able to operate various equipment and perform each duty satisfactorily
Compensation:
Compensation is dependent upon qualifications and experience
Must possess current valid driver license and pass pre-employment drug testing and background check
