Job purpose
The Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of multiple pieces of construction equipment.
The Equipment Operator is proficient in the use of a diverse range of construction equipment, including, but not limited to Excavators, Loaders, Dozers, Rollers, Motor Graders, and Skid Steers.
Travel is required 50% of the time depending on the job site location.
Job posting for the Heavy Industrial crew for the 2024 construction season with anticipated season start in April 2024.
Duties and responsibilities
Operate various pieces of construction equipment used in earth moving and grading operations (ex.
Motor Graders, Compactors, Excavators, etc…)
Operate construction equipment in accordance with company procedures and safety regulations
Check all fluid levels daily and perform daily walk-around inspection, to include greasing as necessary, when operating equipment
Operate the equipment in the right direction and angles to prevent accidents and damage of property
Use various pieces of equipment to perform fine grading and finishing, sloping, and banking, backfilling, demolition, ditching, loading, excavating, and stockpiling
Operate equipment in various situations, maintaining proper awareness of one’s surroundings
Report needs for large repairs to appropriate parties
All other duties as assigned, delegated, or necessary for operations
Qualifications
Two years of operating construction equipment preferred
Experience with multiple pieces of construction equipment is preferred
Possess a valid driver’s license
Ability to pass a pre-employment urine drug test and comply with drug and alcohol policies during employment
Working conditions
Outdoor environment subject to changing conditions and temperatures
Occasional exposures to fumes, dust, odors, heights, and loud noises
May be required to work 60+ hours, 6 days a week
Physical requirements
Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner
Clarity of vision at varying distances to perform various work assignments
Standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods of time
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment
Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally
Occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching
Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 50 pounds
