*Job purpose*
The Assistant Flat Crew Foreman will assist the Flat Crew Foreman with management of the crew, quality of work, and daily work tasks.
*Duties and responsibilities*
* Manage the crew that is working with you
* Be a strong leader and motivator
* Train new employees
* Communicate with foreman to report production and project/crew issues
* Help set the forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch and depth and align them
* Check the forms that hold the concrete to see that they are properly constructed
* Spread, level, and smooth concrete using rake, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed, and float
* Mold expansion joints and edges, using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge
* Cut out damaged areas, drill holes for reinforcing rods, and position reinforcing rods to repair concrete, using a power saw and drill
* Signal truck driver to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete, and move chute to direct concrete on forms
* Monitor the weather conditions (wind, heat, cold) and how the condition may affect the curing of the concrete
* All other duties as assigned, delegated, or necessary for operations
*Qualifications*
* Concrete finishing experience required
* Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License, or the ability and willingness to obtain one, required
* Ability to pass a pre-employment urine drug test and comply with drug and alcohol policies during employment
*Working conditions*
* Outdoor environment subject to changing conditions and temperatures
* Occasional exposures to fumes, dust, odors, heights, and loud noises
* Will work weekends as necessary
* May be required to work 50+ hours, 6 days a week
*Physical requirements*
* Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner.
* Clarity of vision at varying distances to perform various work assignments.
* Standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods of time.
* Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment.
* Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally.
* Occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching.
* Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 50 pounds
