About the Role: Under supervision of the County Road Superintendent, is responsible for performing general labor type duties, hand and power tool operation, and intermediate-level truck and equipment operation on various Road and Bridge projects.
This position will involve working outdoors in different climate and weather conditions.
This is a temporary seasonal position beginning when filled and ending approximately in October 2024 (or sooner for school purposes).
Will work 10-hour shifts or longer with possibility of overtime.
May also work less than 40 hours per week dependent upon workload criteria and/or weather conditions.
Candidate Requirements:
Two (2) years' experience in the operation of a variety of highway maintenance equipment and general labor skills.
Must have a valid CDL Class A or B driver's license with tanker endorsement, without the air brake restrictions and a clean driving record.
Applicant must be 18 years of age or above.
Applicant will be subject to post offer driver's license and criminal background checks, physical exam, and drug screening.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Participates with other maintenance personnel to perform general labor duties using hand tools including but not limited to: shovels, rakes, posts hole diggers, brooms, scrapers, etc.
for use in shop and grounds maintenance, asphalt patching, preparing culvert beds, snow removal, etc.
Places traffic control signs and devices, assists traffic through work zones as required.
Operates jackhammers, air compressors, mechanical tampers, power saws, hydraulic drivers and similar equipment.
Operates semis and dump trucks hauling maintenance material and drive trucks in plowing snow and spreading traction material.
Operates a wide variety of heavy equipment to a varying degree of difficulty, including but not limited to the following: motor graders, front end loaders, bulldozers, scrapers, backhoes, rollers, mowers, trucks of all types, asphalt related equipment and other equipment associated with road and bridge maintenance.
Performs related work as required including minimal routine repair and maintenance of vehicles, buildings, and grounds as required.
Occasionally serves as a temporary crew leader on small projects as assigned by supervisor.
Generates detailed daily timecards, material and work reports.
Performs other duties as required.
