Summary of Position:
This position is responsible for assisting with the appraisal of real property in the City of Mandan.
Major Duties:
Performs internal and external inspections of residential and light commercial properties, collecting field data, measuring, and listing quality and condition of buildings.
Enter and update a variety of information in the computer-aided mass-appraisal (CAMA) system including photographs, sketches, etc.
Updates permit information, prints summaries and reports.
Prepares and mails a variety of correspondence to property owners.
Helps establish land values using topography and market information.
Employs computer-aided mass appraisal system to value property.
Analyses property sales.
Performs related duties.
Required Knowledges:
Knowledge of building materials and construction practices.
Knowledge of the geographic lay-out of the city.
Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
Skill in the use of measuring equipment and cameras for the purpose of valuing real property.
Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position and working knowledge of construction types and techniques, computer applications, and customer service.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Dakota for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
