Job Description:
Essential Duties:
On day-shifts, the main duty of the security officer will be access control at the main mine entrance gate and facility doors.
Check in and out contractors and vendors along with inspection of contractor vehicles and equipment.
During off-hour shifts and weekends, the security officer will perform general surveillance and patrol of mine for protection against theft, vandalism, trespassing, fire and any other events determined detrimental to the security of all property.
Interacts professionally and engages with mine personnel, vendors, contractors and members of the public.
Reacts appropriately and promptly in emergency situations.
Responds to all medical emergencies or accident scenes and provides first aid assistance or direct traffic.
Emergency Medical System training to the level of Emergency First Responder (EMR) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is preferred.
Must be self-motivated, responsible and willing to work alone.
Shift work is required and willing to work 12-hour shifts.
Monitors CCTV and alarm systems and provides appropriate response when applicable and ensures all CCTV and alarm systems are functional.
Generates clear and concise written reports of shift activities and reports problems immediately.
Must have good driving record, maintain safe driving practices and be willing to operate company pickups in adverse weather conditions.
Maintain the vehicle in a clean and safe operating condition.
Performs job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures and State and Federal environmental regulations.
Other Duties:
Safely operate all vehicles and other job-related equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Good computer, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
Self-directed, able to act independently and make sound decisions.
Must be willing to work shift work and be eager to accept responsibility and challenges.
Education and Training:
Must have two years’ experience in security, law enforcement, or criminal justice.
A two-year degree in any related field can be substituted for one year of experience.
Emergency Medical System training to the level of Emergency First Responder (EMR) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is preferred.
High school diploma required.
