SCOPE OF WORK: The Addiction Counselor-Adult Female will be responsible to provide counseling to adult female clients that are experiencing substance use disorder(s) to understand substance dependency and will develop and facilitate effective methods/treatment to assist in maintaining a substance-free lifestyle.
SUPERVISION: The Addiction Counselor will work under the supervision of the Standing Rock Treatment Program, Director who will provide guidance, direction and conduct performance evaluations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide outpatient and after care services to clients (voluntary/involuntary) in a group setting or one-on-one basis as required.
Develop methods/treatment plans and provide recommendations on client care.
Conduct assessments, document progress notes and discharges summaries.
Accept referrals for out-patient service component in accordance with the provisions of the Standing Rock Treatment Policy and Procedures Manual as approved by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.
Utilize AccuCare management system to maintain records of services provided to individuals and groups.
Issue referral(s) to the after-care component for clients who have successfully completed treatment program.
Facilitate referrals to outside agencies and service program.
Submit monthly activity reports to include AccuCare management system.
Work with family members of clients involved in the Out-patient treatment or after care component.
Gather, interpret, report and protect information concerning client as specified in 42 CFR Part 2 (Confidentiality of Substance Use Disorder Patient Records).
Establish and maintain effective professional relationship with clients and families.
QUALIFICATIONS: Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC) with three (3) year’s documented experience in Addiction, Social, Behavioral, Psychological or Physical Effects of substance use field or Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) with two (2) year’s documented experience in Social, Behavioral, Psychological or Physical Effects of Substance use field.
In lieu of the CAC/LAC requirement will consider; Two (2) year degree in Social, Behavioral or Psychology related field with (3) years documented experience working in treatment or prevention of addiction or substance use field.
Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Systems with emphasis in data management.
Effectively communicate information both verbal and written; ability to understand and carry out both verbal and written instructions and request clarification when needed.
Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
Solid interpersonal skills and professionalism; maintain tact, courtesy and composure in highly sensitive matters.
Elevated level of ethical standards and maintain a high degree of confidentiality as specified in 42 CFR Part 2 (Confidentiality of Substance Use Disorder Patient Records).
Pass appropriate background check Valid driver’s license and meet insurability requirements.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Ability to obtain and maintain Addiction Certification through the Great Plains American Indian Credentialing Board.
Demonstrate effective knowledge in the AccuCare system.
Ability to verify two (2) years of continuous sobriety and demonstrate a commitment to living and promoting a healthy and substance-free lifestyle.
Demonstrate working knowledge of Native American culture and customs.
Demonstrate effective knowledge of Standing Rock Treatment Program policies and procedures and Standing Rock Treatment Abstinence Clause.
Ability to strictly adhere to the confidentiality and code of ethics in accordance with the profession of a Licensed Addiction Counselor/Certified Addiction Counselor and 42 CFR Part 2 (Confidentiality of Substance Use Disorder Patient Records) Demonstrate effective knowledge of social, behavioral, psychological and physical effects of substance use disorders.
Ability to implement individual, group and family therapy techniques.
Ability to establish connection and network with community resources and services to assist in the treatment and rehabilitation of clients.
Demonstrate working knowledge in the 12 step programs of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Red Road Approach and Wellbriety.
Ability to provide services to substance dependent, psychiatric and developmentally disabled clients.
