SCOPE OF POSITION: The National Registered Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT-ADVANCED) will provide the highest quality of pre-hospital care and assist in the transport of individuals who require emergency care.
SUPERIVSION: The National Registered Advanced Emergency Medical Technician will work under the supervision of the Standing Rock Program, Director who will provide guidance, direction and conduct performance evaluations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIIES: Response to emergency needs of the sick and injured; provide the necessary treatment of patient in a rapid, professional manner, while advising patient/family of the treatment plan.
Maintain direct communication with the Medical Director for the Standing Rock Ambulance Program to ensure high standard of care.
Administer basic/advanced drug distribution and assist in operating equipment used for critical or emergency care.
Complete appropriate patient report, ambulance and drug check lists.
Assist the on-duty supervisor; serve as Lead Medic or I.

Ensure contact is maintained with mobile and stationary units in the Emergency Services network to coordinate activities or personnel.
Request services of other protective agencies, provide guidance and direction for on-scene emergency personnel when planned procedures are not feasible.
Review and monitor daily list of medications, narcotics and update listing of all emergency equipment to include all program vehicles, rescue trucks, etc.
Issue notification of deficiencies in supplies, equipment, needed documents and ambulance maintenance.
Operate emergency vehicles in all weather-related situations in a proper and safe manner.
Conduct inventory and restock supplies and equipment of ambulance.
Conduct sanitation (inside & outside) of Ambulances and Ambulance base.
Perform tasks and assignments within the scope Ambulance Program and EMS functions.
QUALIFICATIONS: High School or GED with current National Registry AEMT Certification, CPR and two (2) years of documented experience in Emergency Medical Services.
Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft suite (excel, word) and data entry.
Proficient in carrying out general office functions with efficient operation of standard (copy, scanner, fax, printer and telephone) equipment.
Solid verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent customer service skills: demonstrate professionalism, maintain tact, courtesy, composure and flexibility when dealing with demanding circumstances, situations and personalities.
Valid Driver’s License and meet insurability requirements.
Pass child care background check.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Ability to maintain National Registry, North and South Dakota Licensures including continual education requirements and refresher courses.
Ability to obtain Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) Certification, Auto-Extrication Certification, ACLS, PALS Certifications within one (1) year of employment.
Demonstrate effective knowledge of protocols and standing orders of the Standing Rock Ambulance Service; strictly adhere to physician’s orders according to Medical Director.
Ability to obtain and maintain HIPPA training as required.
Demonstrate effective knowledge of ALS and BLS equipment, diesel trucks, various radio equipment, cell phones, codes/procedures ad orientation of service area.
Ability to obtain and maintain current HEP-B vaccination.
Ability to sign confidentiality agreement and understand penalties for violations.
Ability to maintain Ambulances and Rescue Vehicles in a safe, clean and orderly condition to ensure vehicle readiness.
Demonstrate knowledge of traffic ordinances and laws concerning emergency vehicles.
Ability to effectively communicate (verbal & written) patient information to receiving medical staff.
Ability to promote a positive work environment; demonstrate sensitivity and professional rapport with the public, patients, co-workers and personnel involved in the health care field.
Demonstrate active participation in community health related events and activities to share new and current information with Standing Rock communities.
Ability to learn and operate new software applications, ADP timecard application, data collection system and reporting instruments.
Ability to display evidence of good health habits; maintain neat and professional appearance.
Demonstrate punctuality; arrive prepared for scheduled shifts on time with ability to work beyond tour of duty.
Ability to practice safety protocols while exposed to various weather elements, noise, cleaners, biohazards, HazMat products.
Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, reach overhead, climb, squat, bend, kneel, sit, stand, walk and mover patient and cot in safe manner.
Demonstrate psychological adaptability and emotional stability in dealing with various types of emergency situations.
