JOB SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of the Full-time Payroll Assistant position will be to provide clerical support to the Payroll/Human Resource department through various payroll functions to ensure accurate, timely completion of a weekly pay cycle, in compliance with corporate policies and procedures and state and federal regulations.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
Experience as a payroll clerk; preferably with a multi-state employer and/or greater than 100+ employees.
Knowledge of wage and hour laws, time & attendance and HRIS systems, leave administration and standard payroll deductions is highly desired.
High school graduate or work experience equivalent.
Good interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, attention to detail, and good computer skills (Excel, Word, HRIS systems, Email).
PAYROLL ASSISTANT JOB DUTIES
Assist employees with their Self-Service log-in access issues
Respond to verification of employment and work comp earnings history requests.
Process new hire personnel files and data entry into the HR/Payroll software, follow up with recruiting and supervisor to ensure all paperwork is correct, create personnel folder, etc.
Assist in communicating company policies and procedures to employees and supervisors
Process personnel and payroll status change forms for a weekly pay schedule.
Process employee terminations and prepare separation information for mailing.
Assist with weekly timesheet review for payroll processing -communications to managers for missed punches, monitor for LOAs, prep Line Haul driver vacation timesheets, assist with payroll run preparations.
Assist in preparing and communicating income withholding orders to respective employees and in preparing garnishment responses to the respective agency or court.
Annual review/processing of reciprocity forms.
Assist in the maintenance of I9 form records as needed.
Assist CFO with monthly payroll checking account reconciliation.
Must be able to maintain the confidentiality of applicant and employee information.
Must be able to communicate respectfully and effectively with people at all levels of the Company.
Able to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks, responding to questions quickly and accurately.
Ability to follow and maintain process and procedure documentation on specific duties so that in your absence others will be able to fill in with minimum disruption to department.
Assist with various projects and other duties as assigned.
