*JOB SUMMARY*
The Certified Transportation Aide is a Certified Nursing Assistant that will provide patient/resident care and assure resident safety as required under the direct supervision of the licensed nurse and executes all transportation needs for residents/tenants as provided under community policy.
The Certified Transportation Aide is responsible for assuring community vehicles are routinely maintained and comply with DOT regulations.
The Certified Transportation Aide is expected to maintain a safe driving record that meets the required qualifications at all times, and to notify the Administrator immediately if they do not meet the requirements.
*KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB*
1.
Provide direct patient/resident care and reports condition and changes to RN or LPN.
2.
Document results of patient/resident care within established policies, procedures and scope of practice.
3.
Schedule and drive community vehicles to transport residents/tenants in a safe and efficient manner.
4.
Follow all established state laws, Benedictine and community policies and procedures, and resident safety/safe patient handling guidelines at all times, including during emergencies and inclement weather.
5.
Maintain all necessary records including trip scheduling and logging mileage and maintenance.
6.
Perform daily and ongoing upkeep of community vehicle interior, exteriors and contents.
7.
Establish, execute, and record regular preventive maintenance schedules, required repairs, pre-trip inspections of lights and tires, and annual professional mechanic inspection.
8.
Inform and remind residents and staff of scheduled outings in advance and with sufficient time to prepare.
9.
Coordinate with family member/volunteer/nursing assistance as needed for resident transportation.
10.
Assist with loading and unloading of passengers and may be needed to assist in and out of destination.
11.
Ensure that all occupants wear seat belts at all times.
12.

13.
Performs other duties, tasks and/or projects as assigned.
*QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED*
· Must be at least 21 years of age
· Must be in good standing on the State Nursing Assistant registry or appropriate entity
· Valid Driver’s license appropriate for the type of vehicle assigned to operate
· Demonstration/proof of safe driving record, i.
e.
No at fault accidents, no serious driving violations, and no minor moving violations within three years.
*QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED*
· Experience transporting people
· Experience in long term care or working with the elderly
· CPR/First Aid certification

· Effective interpersonal and organizational skills required.
· Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
