Purpose Statement: The job of Secretary, Medicaid is for the purpose of performing tasks, on a daily basis, for Medicaid management of policies and procedures, for providing general Medicaid support to administrators and providers and for acting as a liaison between BPS and a contracted Medicaid Billing Company and the North Dakota State Medicaid office.
This job reports to the Director of Student Support Services.
Essential Functions Supports the writing and implementation of district wide policies and procedures regarding Medicaid.
Maintain and update Medicaid documentation.
Support providers with the completion of Medicaid paperwork and billing processes.
Actively participate in meetings with contracted and state employees regarding any content specific to Medicaid.
Use computer software to ensure Medicaid procedures are operating accurately and efficiently.
Consult with district accounts payable and accounts receivable to understand the fiscal aspects of Medicaid billing.
Secure legal documents associated with Medicaid billing; releases of information, consents.
Adhere to all FERPA and HIPPA confidentiality procedures outlined by the federal, state, and local law.
Ensure compliance with all Medicaid policies and procedures.
Participates in meetings that involve a range of Medicaid issues for the propose of effective policies, procedures, and billing practices.
Prepare a variety of reports and related documents for the purpose of providing documentation and information to others.
Provides training to BPS staff regarding Medicaid billing procedures.
Researches any new Medicaid rules and regulations.
Other Functions Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring efficient and effective functioning of Medicaid policies and procedures.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities SKILLS: Specific skill based competencies include: planning and organizing projects, preparing and managing accurate records, operating standard office equipment, utilizing pertinent software applications, using logic and reasoning to solve problems, being aware of others’ reactions and understanding and why they react as they do and stay on top of technical tasks with potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
KNOWLEDGE: Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: basic research practices, personnel practices within a school district environment and laws, legal codes and regulations as they apply to school based Medicaid.
ABILITY: Specific abilities in oral comprehension, oral expression, written comprehension and written expression in order to successfully send and receive communication.
Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules and/or conclusions and the ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
Minimum Qualification Requirements 3-5 years of experience in an administrative assistant/secretary role.
At least 2 years of college course work satisfactorily completed.
Medical/Medicaid specific knowledge preferred.
