Join our team as our Assistant Activity Director! Full-Time 40 Hours Per week Monday - Friday | 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION: Assist the Activity Director to plan, direct, and coordinate Activity programs, Music Programs, the Adult Day Program, and the Volunteer program.
Will be responsible to oversee the Activity Department in the absence of the Director.
QUALIFICATIONS: APND membership required or obtained within an agreed amount of time with continued education to maintain membership Previous work experience in an Activity Program in a Long Term Care setting preferred Current ND CNA certification or obtained within an agreed amount of time ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Participate as a member of the Care Team and be proficient in the MDS process, including completing the MDS, care plans and conference notes and attending conferences on residents assigned.
Conduct self with integrity in all manner of conversing with Activity personnel, department managers, residents, family members, volunteers in a respectful manner.
Will uphold the Missouri Slope Mission and Values.
Understand and follow Activity guidelines as outlined by state and federal regulations.
Manage the Activity Department in the absence of the Director and will attend meetings as assigned by the Director.
Complete 10 hours of education annually through APND Support, implement and hold activity staff accountable to established facility policies and procedures of the facility including but not limited to personnel, Risk Management/Safety Program, the Voluntary Protection Program, infection prevention policy and procedures and safe operating procedures within the department and facility wide.
Assist the Director in coordinating the Adult Day Program and overseeing program records.
Assist the Director in providing and delegating Volunteer Program training, HIPAA training with recommendations from the HIPAA officer.
Will oversee daily record keeping in the absence of the Activity Director.
Asist the Director in completing department QAPI studies and reports as assigned.
Assist as needed with monthly Residents' Council Meetings and take meeting minutes.
In the absence of the Director, support the Council President in holding meetings as needed.
Assit the Director in coordinating the department in developing the monthly Activity calendar of events.
Will be responsible for design, printing and calendar pass, and uploading to the facility website with the support of IT as needed.
Assist the Director in planning, coordinating and the implementation of individual and group activities for all resident activity programs.
Must be able to assist the Activity Director to direct activity staff to effectively carry out the established activity programs within the facility.
Respect and uphold resident rights in all regards including confidentiality of resident information and refrain from any action that would be considered abusive, neglectful or disrespectful to residents and hold staff accountable to this standard also.
Provide input to the Activity Director as requested for staff performance evaluations and corrective action of staff as necessary.
Will assist the Activity Director with preparing the staff schedules as needed.
Must have visual acuity and the ability to read, write, verbalize and understand English well enough to receive oral and/or written instructions and successfully communicate with residents and co-workers and complete electronic documentation for medical records.
Hearing acuity must be sufficient to communicate effectively with residents, staff and the public; also use the phone on a frequent basis.
Demonstrate flexibility and be able to adapt to changes in procedures and sudden changes in assignments as needed.
Must be comfortable and effective in public speaking.
Be able to introduce and/or lead a group activity.
Must have effective communication and reporting skills.
Must be punctual and dependable with attendance.
Must be able to manually lift and push up to 25 pounds 10%-25% of the time during an 8 hour shift and up to 50 pounds 10% or less of the time during an 8 hour shift.
Will be responsible for receiving calls and scheduling rooms for family and resident parties and coordinating the related details with nursing, nutritional and environmental services as needed.
Assist with the escort of residents to and from activities as schedule allows.
Demonstrates MSLCC’s customer service standards of excellence.
WORKING CONDITIONS A large skilled nursing facility with predominantly carpeted floors with some vinyl floors; chapel and activity areas.
