RESPONSIBLE TO: Resident Account Manager
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION: Will assist the Resident Account Manager with insurance billing and accounts receivable functions.
Responsible for maintaining resident accounts assigned to position in an accurate manner.
Will share other accounts receivable duties as assigned by Resident Account Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a general knowledge of accounting procedures.
Must have experience using Outlook, Word and Excel
Three years of experience in medical insurance billing and accounts receivable is preferred.
JOB FUNCTIONS: ESSENTIAL
Responsible to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication during interaction with facility staff, residents and visitors in carrying out the duties of the position.
Must possess manual dexterity sufficient to perform data entry, filing and other typical office duties.
Must also bend and reach, as well as grasp and carry objects.
Responsible to demonstrate organizational skills, with attention to details.
Must be able to meet and work well with people and establish good public relations
Responsible to obtain ancillary charges for Medicare claims of all residents.
Must respect and uphold resident rights in all regards including confidentiality of resident’s personal, financial and health information.
JOB FUNCTIONS: SOCIAL
Census maintenance: Admissions, discharges, hospital and therapeutic leave, re-admissions, room changes and case-mix rate classifications.
Notify residents of any changes in the rate they are charged due to case-mix changes or facility rate updates.
Maintain current record of Recipient Liability amounts for each resident and update resident account as changes are made.
Report any changes in resident income or expenses to the Department of Human Services (DHS) LTC Unit.
Receive and handle inquiries relating to the status of their residents’ accounts.
Prepare and submit Medicare Part A claims per resident listing.
Follow-up on Medicaid and Medicare Part A claims.
Process Medicare approvals and denials and notify residents as they occur.
Submit payment alerts to DHS for Medicaid admissions and annual Level of Care screens.
Assist residents in the application process for Medical Assistance.
Follow-up on Medical Assistance applications pending with the DHS LTC Unit.
Enter appropriate adjustments on resident accounts to maintain accurate account balances.
Monitor private pay bills for rate changes and medicare coverage changes and clarify billing statements for residents as necessary.
Submit claims for: Day Care, Hospice, Medicare Supplemental Insurance, Long-term Care Insurance, Northland PACE and Work Force Safety.
JOB FUNCTIONS: OTHER
Serve as a back-up for front office/reception duties as needed.
Attend department meeting, educational in-services and workshops.
Prepare Medicare ancillary charge log on monthly basis.
Demonstrates MSLCC’s customer service standards of excellence.
