*Position Summary*
* The Electrical Technician performs technically challenging functions such as assembling, testing, modifying, calibrating, and troubleshooting of complex electro-mechanical systems.
*Job Duties*
* Properly use tools ranging from common hand and power tools to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices
* Receive and apply training on new technologies and equipment.
* Install, wire, and troubleshoot electrical components, including motors, controllers, sensors, and PLCs.
* Perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure the ongoing functionality and safety of DMVW equipment.
* Diagnose and repair electrical faults, malfunctions, and breakdowns in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
*Required Knowledge/Skills*:
* Basic knowledge in the fields of electricity/electronics and industrial hydraulics/pneumatics.
* Knowledge of DC/AC, Voltage Circuit Theory and practical troubleshooting skills
* Basic knowledge in the use of electronic test equipment.
* Basic knowledge in the reading, and interpretation, of electrical schematic drawings and engineering blueprints.
* Must have strong troubleshooting/problem solving skills to identify the root cause, and systematically solve problems.
* Knowledge of basic IT skills and MS Office Application.
* Ability to read, and write, reports and procedures in various formats.
* Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
* Ability to apply critical thinking and solve practical problems in a variety of situations.
* Basic mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
* Understanding of the metric system.
* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
* Willingness to adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations at all times.
*Preferred Skills*
* Familiar with PLC systems.
* Knowledge of various operating systems, i.
e.
, Windows, DOS, some basic Linux.
* Experience in Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems.
* Basic understanding of TCP/IP protocol, IP addressing, troubleshooting connections.
* Some limited programming abilities in C++, Visual Basic would be helpful.
* Ability to do basic troubleshooting and minor repairs to various mechanical pieces of equipment, i.
e.
, engine, air compressor.
* Knowledge of railroad track maintenance machinery.
*Education/Experience*
· High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and one or more of the following:
o Preferred Associate degree or Certificate in Instrumentation & Controls Technology or similar technical field.
(mechatronics, electro-mechanical, controls and automation, etc.
)
o Students currently enrolled in Instrumentation & Controls Technology or similar technical field will also be considered.
* 5 years hands-on experience in a mechanic, maintenance, electrical, electro-mechanical, or controls and automation role.
*Physical Demands:*
* Must be able to bend, balance, crouch, reach above & below shoulder level, stoop and walk.
* Grasp hand & track tools, materials & equipment.
* Climb on & off equipment or machines, kneel, squat, ascend & descend ladders, sit, ascend & descend stairs, twist, push & pull.
