We are currently seeking a full-time Technician to join our team in Bismarck! This individual is responsible for providing chair-side doctor assistance, performing diagnostic tests as required by physician, and administering treatment as allowed and ordered by the physician.
Responsibilities:
Acquaints new patients with office procedures to which they will be exposed.
Informs patients of purpose of tests the technician is performing, and how the patient will be affected during the tests.
Obtains patient history to include chief complaint, history of present illness, past history (ocular and general), family history (ocular and general), and history of allergies and medications,
Performs accurate and consistent documentation and measurement tasks as ordered by the physician.
Uses autorefractor and lensometers (automatic and manual).
Perform brightness acuity measurement as requested by the physician.
Monitors patient flow, ensuring the physician exam rooms are always full.
Escorts patients to front desk after exam.
Other tasks specific to the physician’s needs as a result of new technologies
Becomes knowledgeable with Optical lens options, contact lenses and specialty contact lens.
Assists with scleral contact lens testing and protocols.
Assists physician with Sensorimotor and Visual Therapy exams.
Assists as needed with Low Vision exam.
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred
Essential Skills & Abilities:
Provides quality patient care for all patients, directly or indirectly
Knowledge of medical and ophthalmic terminology
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Empathetic personality with concern for patient’s needs
Strong organization with attention to detail
Ability to work in a team and be a positive team member
Demonstrated computer literacy
Demonstrated ability to perform comprehensive work ups on three patients per hour
Physical Abilities:
Must be able to walk and stand for eight hours.
Must be able to type or write legibly in a dimly-lit setting.
Must be able to hear softly spoken words.
