Department Details
Full time position.
Call is required.
Call consists of once every weekday and one weekend every 5-6 weeks.
Will train and assist with reimbursement for certification and schooling.
Candidate has to be willing to pursue certification as either a CSTFA or RNFA.
Job Summary
Assists operating surgeons in carrying out technical surgical procedures in accordance with applicable safety laws and regulations.
Assists operating surgeons with intra-operative procedures like homeostasis, exposure, closure, and other intraoperative technical functions that assist the surgeon in carrying out a safe procedure with optimal results for the patient.
Develops specialized preoperative plans in coordination with appropriate surgeons and health team members.
Prepares surgical tools and equipment, takes preventative measures to ensure applicable health and safety regulations are satisfied, and assist with patient positioning when necessary.
Administers preoperative medications and reports the responses of patients to assigned surgeons and anesthesiologists.
Qualifications
Appropriate education level required in accordance with the state certification and/or licensure including appropriate accreditation programs and agencies.
Required to meet one of the following criteria:
Eligibility to sit for the certification of Surgical Assistant exam.
Current registration through the applicable state board of nursing as a Surgical Technologist while also having current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
Current registration through the applicable state board of nursing as a Surgical Technologist while also having current certification through the National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technologist (NBCOT).
