Primary Job Function
Carry out restorative therapy as ordered by the attending physician under the supervision of the Restorative Nursing Director, Unit Director.
Charge Nurse, and Consultant Therapists
Qualifications
18 years of age or older
Current CNA licensure or an equivalent or higher license, including PT or OT licenses, is required
High school diploma or equivalent required
ESSENTAIL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Will be responsible for manually lifting and transferring residents up to 60 lbs.
on a frequent basis.
Will need to be able to reach, pull, move hands and arms in order to transfer residents doing the following actions:
Bed to chair/chair to bed.
Wheelchair to toilet/toilet to wheelchair.
Bed to stretcher/stretcher to bed.
Assisted ambulation of residents.
Turning and positioning of bed bound residents to maintain proper body alignment.
Responsible to provide a safe environment for residents and co-workers by following all established safety policies and procedures including:
Awareness of chemical products used and material data sheets (MSDS).
Proper use of universal precautions and infection control policies including good hand washing techniques and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) (ie.
goggles and masks).
Awareness of Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) and Risk Management/Safety Program and will adhere to established policies and procedures within the nursing department and facility wide with regards to job performance and safe operating procedures.
Will use proper body mechanics, hoyer-lifts, gait belts and secure assistance of a co-worker as required by policy and established by the resident plan of care.
Must be able to lift, reach, pull, and bend to perform therapy modalities on residents as ordered by the attending physician or consultant therapists.
Will carry out functional maintenance programs on residents as ordered by the consultant therapists.
Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak English to effectively communicate with professionals, health care providers, and residents as well as accurately document therapy progress notes in the resident’s record.
Is responsible to promptly report changes in condition to the Charge Nurses as well as the Unit Director.
Will promote optimum functional mobility for residents,
Is responsible to maintain an inventory list of cushions and other restorative rehab supply inventory as needed.
Demonstrates Missouri Slope’s customer service standards of excellence.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
May assist Unit Director in teaching body mechanics to other staff as assigned.
Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement and Safety Committee activities, as assigned; including competency testing in areas of practice.
Attend inservices and meetings scheduled.
Other duties related to job function, as assigned.
