JOB TITLE: Director of Safety DEPARTMENT: Risk Management JOB STATUS: Exempt SALARY RANGE: $90,000 - $100,000/year (Depends on Experience and Skills) LOCATION: Bismarck, ND - Fargo, ND - Eagan, MN - Sioux Falls, SD - Denver, CO - Kansas City, KS - Wichita, KS - Salt Lake City, UT - Omaha, NE DIRECT REPORTS: Yes REPORTS TO: VP of Logistics CrossCountry Freight Solutions is hiring for a Director of Safety.
This position is directly responsible for managing safety and risk associated with company operations.
The Director of Safety will proactively develop, coordinate, and implement occupational health policies and procedures to promote and ensure effective safety operations within all CCFS terminal locations.
This role will support Operations and Terminal Managers in ensuring all terminals are conducting operations in a safe manner for the protection of our employees, customers, and general public.
This role will set the tone for corporate safety and risk management, demonstrates strong leadership skills, works well in a team environment, has excellent communication skills and strives to enrich the CCFS culture.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures.
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
Lead weekly calls with regional managers and human resources.
Analyze loss information for accidents and incidents.
Identify high risk locations, act as the keeper of safety-focused locations.
Act as back up for reporting events to OSHA.
Develop and manage reports (accident and injury).
Review CSA scores monthly and send out reports to Regional Operations.
Write Safety Talks and send to Regional Safety Managers to send out identified topics.
Travel to terminals to conduct onsite training, ride along, and dock observations.
Act as a back-up for Regional Safety Managers.
Other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS: Skills and Knowledge: Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or related field required.
At least five years of occupational health and safety experience in an industrial environment required.
Understanding of legal health and safety guidelines.
Ability to produce reports and develop relevant policies.
Knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment.
Organizational and motivational skills.
Attention to detail and observation ability.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
Intellectual skills, problem solving, project management and applicable technical skills.
Knowledge of the LTL industry including handling of freight, loading trailers, and proper documentation.
