*Senior Process Engineer *

*Summary *
Work includes support for all project phases, with particular focus in front-end engineering and support through detailed design.
Position will be assigned as either the lead or supporting process design engineer for projects and will be responsible for coordination and ensuring effective communication with other engineering disciplines and Kestrel’s clients.
In a lead role, the process engineer is a primary interface with our clients’ technical staff.
*Reporting * Position reports administratively to the manager of process design.
In project structure, position reports to the lead process engineer and/or the project manager/project engineer.
*Responsibilities * Include the following.
Other duties may be assigned as required.
* Develops process design and associated deliverables, including process design basis, process flow diagrams, development of mass and energy balances, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), cause and effect matrices.
Size and specify pressure relief devices.
* Defines the approach needed to solve hydraulic, heat and mass transfer problems, including identification and collection of field data/client information.
Develops appropriate model to solve the problem, effectively analyzes and interprets results, and recommends solutions to achieve our clients’ objectives.
* Sizes equipment including pumps, heat exchangers, mass transfer equipment, pressure vessels, etc.
Supports mechanical engineer through development of technical specifications and drawing reviews.
* Communicates regularly with project team and Kestrel’s clients to convey technical information, identify problems, and develop solutions that achieve project objectives in a timely manner.
* Provides support through detailed engineering to provide continuity, assess the impact of proposed changes, support quality assurance/control for the project.
*Education, Skills and Experience * * BSc in chemical engineering and 5 years or more experience in the specialty chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas, water treatment, power generation, and metallurgical/mineral processing industries working as a process engineer.
* Candidate must have excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills, able to develop and execute a plan to identify and solve technical problems.
* Candidate must have good verbal and written communication skills, able to convey technical concepts to a wide variety of audiences in a clear and concise manner.
* Ability to produce quality work under the constraints of the project.
* Must have a thorough understanding of chemical engineering principles, including heat and mass transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid flow and hydraulics.
* Experience with hydraulic analysis for piping and ductwork using software (e.
g.
, Design Flow Solutions, PipeFlo).
* Experience with Aspen HYSYS preferred.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office products is required.
* Previous plant experience is strongly preferred *Certifications, Credentials, Licenses & Registrations * * Successful completion of FE exam required and professional goal to pursue PE license preferred.
* Eligibility to obtain or currently hold a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) required.

You must be willing and able to drive your own properly registered and insured vehicle.
