Speech Language Pathologist

_*SUMMARY:*_ The speech language pathologist position at Therapy Solutions is responsible for assessing, treating and helping to prevent disorders related to speech, language, voice, swallowing and fluency.
_*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:*_ * Plan, prepare and execute proper and individualized treatment plans utilizing all pertinent information to help determine short and long-term goals including; physician referral, client’s medical record(s) and client evaluation.
* Exhibits an ability to assess, diagnose, treat and help to prevent disorders related to speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, swallowing and fluency.
* Familiar with the best practices, methods and assessment tools for treating various speech and language issues.
* Perform and utilize appropriate diagnostic and assessment tests, tools and complex treatments individually or with assistance as needed.
* Collaborate with other health care professionals as needed relative to individual client treatment programs and progress.
* Instructs clients and / or family and caregivers in practicing speech and language therapeutic exercises; provides consultation for clients working through speech and language treatment processes.
* Ability to evaluate treatment and progress at various stages and adjust as needed.
* Ability to remain calm when dealing with difficult situations.
* Discharge client when goals or projected outcomes have been attained and provide for appropriate follow-up care or referrals.
_*WORK ENVIRONMENT:*_ * This position will work in the skilled nursing home facilities and outpatient clinic.
_*PHYSICAL DEMANDS:*_ * This position requires physical exertion in order to assist clients.
As part of this position, an employee will need to lift clients, stoop, stand and kneel for long periods of time.
_*EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:*_ * Must be a graduate of a certified therapy program.
* Must possess or be eligible for state licensure.
