Purpose Statement
LDI System Coordinator assumes a variety of roles in supporting district stakeholders (i.
e.
central office staff, building administration, instructional coaches, curricular portfolio holders) to further the work of the Bismarck Public School District strategic plan.
The role of the LDI System Coordinator at any given time is determined by matching the needs of individuals, groups, buildings, and the Learning Design and Innovation Department with the following responsibilities to build capacity of leaders regarding district initiatives and best practices.
The System Coordinator will act as a: Change Agent: motivating and guiding district staff to implement necessary systemic changes.
Resource Provider: providing resources to help district staff reach desired goals.
Coach: assisting teachers/instructional coaches transfer learning experiences and resources into practice.
Consultant: supporting individuals and groups in determining next steps to meet specific objectives.
Facilitator: arranging and guiding necessary interactions of individuals to produce desired results.
Trainer: providing custom-designed training and job-embedded staff development.
Project Manager: managing individual portfolios to further the district's work on supporting specified programs.
This position works 12 months out of the year This job reports to the Director of Learning, Design and Innovation Essential Functions • Supervises and coordinates, facilitates, and monitors the review, development, and implementation of Guaranteed and Viable curriculum • Engages in surveying, identifying, and analyzing the professional learning (e.
g.
curriculum, assessment, instruction, etc.
) needs of teachers, specialists, and instructional coaches in the district • Leads and collaborates with district staff and building leadership to design support services (e.
g.
training, materials, etc.
) for the purpose of implementing professional learning program activities that address training needs of the District, related to and supporting the strategic plan including but not limited to: o Effective teaching practices o Curriculum and assessment support o Standards Based Education (SBE) o Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) o Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSSA & MTSSB) o School Improvement Processes (e.
g.
Cognia/High Reliability Schools) o Curricular resources for primary and supplemental instructional use o Research and action research projects • Oversees and supports the development of short and long-range plans for the purpose of ensuring that district resources are effectively utilized • Overseeing professional learning services (e.
g.
consultants, work plan goals, staff training, etc.
) for the purpose of ensuring that performance outcomes are achieved within budget, work plans, and district objectives • Leads, designs, schedules and publicizes staff development activities and results before, during and after, for the purpose of promoting professional learning • Serves as a liaison between district stakeholder groups (e.
g.
instructional coaches, Library Media Specialists, Curricular Portfolio leads, technology, human resources, and community etc.
) for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and/or programs • Researches a variety of information (e.
g.
courses, materials, training consultants, etc.
) for the purpose of developing and/or enhancing programs that meet staff training needs as assigned by the Learning Design and Innovation Director • Lead, collaborate, design, advocate for, and implement systemic solutions to problems of practice • Manages curricular budget and resources funding • Support and grow the LDI System Support Specialists • Handles all other tasks as assigned Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities SKILLS are required to perform multiple, highly complex, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including utilizing pertinent software applications; planning and managing multiple projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and training and development KNOWLEDGE is required to review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials, and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: pertinent codes, policies, regulations and/or laws; current trends and practices in assigned area; education code; principles of employee development and management; project development, goal attainment and time management ABILITY is required to schedule a significant number of activities, meetings, and/or events; often gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment.
Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing a variety of complex processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods.
Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of widely varied types and/or purposes; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment.
Independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans.
Problem solving with data requires analysis based on organizational objectives; and problem solving with equipment is significant.
Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; dealing with frequent and sustained interruptions; developing and maintaining positive working relationships; facilitating communication between persons with divergent positions; implementing change; maintaining confidentiality; meeting deadlines and schedules; providing direction and leadership; and setting priorities.
Responsibility Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; providing information and/or advising others; operating within a defined budget.
Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions.

Work Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity.
Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing.
This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
Experience A minimum of five years of classroom teaching experience.
Experience with curriculum development.
Experience providing professional development to adult learners.
Leadership experience preferred.
Education Bachelor's degree in education Certificates and Licenses A valid North Dakota teaching license.
Administrator's Credential preferred Continuing Educ.
