JOB SUMMARY
Line Sanitarians 1 assist in the cleaning and sanitizing of various pieces of equipment and work environment; they help manage the pest control systems throughout the factory.
The Sanitarian will also be cross-trained to assist in washing and sanitizing all dishes and equipment brought to the washroom.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Work independently to clean facility area and production equipment.
Learn how to disassemble, thoroughly clean and sanitize (using cleaners and solvents) and reassemble pieces of equipment in the production area.
Assist in monitoring pest control of the plant and its out buildings.
Assist with cleaning of major equipment such as fryers, spiral freezers, etc.
Monitor existing programs, such as listeria and ATP Testing.
Certify in, and work with, Confined Spaces and with forklift.
Assist other areas of sanitation as needed such as dish and custodial staff.
Follow all company policies and procedures to produce safe, quality and legal products.
Wash and sanitize all dishes.
Monitor temperatures and chemical usage of sanitizing equipment (dishwashers and three compartment sinks).
Remove garbage material from production areas as well as keep area clean using mops, brooms, etc.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, CHARACTERISTICS
Ability to work independently and in a group setting.
Ability to organize workload and prioritize tasks.
Ability to disassemble and reassemble various types of equipment.
Ability to work in extreme temperatures (freezer & ovens) and become knowledgeable in proper use of chemicals.
Able to work ground level but also at extreme heights (ceilings) utilizing a proper lift for the job.
Ability to do bending, stooping, walking, reaching, grasping, carrying, repetitive motions; close and distant visual skills are required on a constant basis.
Ability to stand on feet for entire work shift, normally 10 or 12 hours and to work overtime when required.
Ability to lift up to 52 pounds occasionally.
Ability to do problem-solving and to apply good communication skills.
Ability to complete appropriate paperwork as necessary.
Ability to think safety and work safely at all times and must follow all proper ergonomic and safety practices.
Must possess above average skills of the English language (understanding, speaking and reading).
Must be able to perform simple math problems, including addition, subtraction and multiplication.
