Position Summary:
This role is a unique opportunity for a highly-driven individual that wants to play a critical role on our Packaging team.
The Setup Operator will be responsible for performing changeovers, training machine operators and optimizing packaging machinery to complete per our goals and schedule.
There will also be a heavy focus on continuous improvement activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Direct changeover procedures on all packaging lines when they occur
· Perform set ups and optimization of packaging machines, resulting in maximized outputs, minimal defects, and minimal scrap on all packaging lines within pre-determined goals
· Update optimized machinery programs and documentation
· Assist with development of training and testing materials for all packaging equipment, and conduct training and testing for all machine operators
· Troubleshoot and define machine problems to maximize production volume and uptime
· Attend all training sessions provided by vendor technical support
· Use silo operator “command center” and Ignition to monitor stripper/accumulator, short goods conveying system, and regrind operations
· Assist maintenance team with preventive maintenance direction and completion by providing support and technical machine subject matter expertise.
Follow, maintain and promote appropriate guidelines, SOPs, and manufacturing practices when completing cleaning or manufacturing responsibilities
· Scan out parts and verify inventory levels when needed and work with Maintenance leads to order necessary Packaging parts to maintain inventory levels
· Manage packaging team in supervisor’s absence
· Partner with company leadership to proactively identify and execute on continuous improvement opportunities in the areas of: safety, food safety, quality, productivity, and sanitation
· Other duties, as assigned
Education and Experience Required:
· Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution
· Must be able to work weekends, holidays and overtime as needed
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
· Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
· Ability to deal with multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
· 3+ years’ experience in packaging area, or equivalent education
· Associates degree in maintenance, manufacturing, or related technical field
Physical Requirements: Qualified candidates must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation:

· Must be able to work in a confined space for 3+ hours per shift
· Must be able to operate foot pedals for 3+ hours per shift

· Must be able to work in dusty environment for 6+ hours per shift
· Must be able to push, pull, perform fine manipulation, and feel for 6+ hours per shift
· Must be able to perform simple grasping for 6+ hours per shift
· Must be able to lift up-to 50 pounds for 6+ hours per shift and anything over 50 pounds will require team assistance or mechanical lifting devices
· Must be able to balance, stand, walk for 8+ hours per shift
